"She" explores the profound impact of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) beyond its immediate abuse, permeating through lives, families, workplaces, and mental well-being. This collaborative narrative draws from the experiences of women who have bravely navigated IPV, offering a platform where their stories can be shared anonymously yet powerfully.
Through these intertwined stories, the production sheds light on the multifaceted repercussions of IPV, emphasizing its enduring effects on individuals and the broader community. It serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength of survivors while sparking crucial conversations about support, healing, and societal awareness.
"She" aims not only to raise awareness but also to foster empathy and understanding, encouraging audiences to reflect on the unseen impacts of IPV and the collective responsibility to address and prevent it.

PSYCHO
No one is better at masking than a therapist. She has heard it all but will let nothing rock her ability to stay present for the women who show up for group. Her relaxed and encouraging nature helps the women feel validated and safe to open up. She keeps her own history with IPV burned in her memory and written into her flesh.
Brandi Bonenfant as:
HONEY
Grew up witness to domestic abuse. She thought she’d know better, do better, than her mother. She thinks not giving a fuck will protect her. She mistakes distrust in others as a preference for solitude. Now living in a shelter, homeless, she hopes to win the battle against addiction, and shame. As she rises from the ashes, toes still flitting in the cinders.
Burgandy Hill as:
WOMAN
This woman works hard at her career. Heaven forbid she take any pride in her success for fear of hurting his ego. She had tried to leave before. But he rarely hit her so she smiled, she tried. She knew the neighbours knew. Even now that she has fled will she be forever trapped under his thumb? How can she protect her children in a system built around the rights of men?
Renee Buczel as:
CUPCAKE
The job-site is safer than being at home. He’s a “good guy.” He just needs some help. She figures she can fix anything, right? Unless she “falls” again before she succeeds. For an absolute rockstar who fits right in with the tough guys on her crew, she’s certainly gotten good at making herself small in the shadow of her man.
Randi Houston as:
SLUT
Reluctant to reveal what’s beneath the cool, rigid, independent veneer. Overwhelmed by fear of showing weakness. There is more to her than what her constituents see. She is lonely and losing control. But she is hopelessly without hope if she cannot remove her mask. There is strength in vulnerability. There is power in truth.

What’s the difference now? It’s all survival. She is grateful for the opportunities available to her in Canada. Despite knowing how desperately she needed divorce for the safety of her and her children, she cannot help but feel the weight of conflicting cultural values.
Sarah Skagen as:
BITCH
Youth is wasted on the young. She takes up a lot of space, now that she is older. A funny creative force that will speak her mind, unafraid to say it like it is. The spark of creation is born from the darkness of experience.
We would like to dedicate this show to our dear sweet friend and castmate Kara Colynuck. She brightened every stage, room, patio and life that she touched with her smile and grace. Kara stood for fairness and justice. She was fierce and authentic, and lovingly cared for every person she interacted with. We know she would be supportive of honouring this creative journey and going on with the show to pass along the message that we have all worked so hard to deliver. Therefore [Sarah Skagen] will be stepping in at the last minute as the role of “Bitch.”
Kara was a master of knowing what to say and when to say it, so we will leave you with this quote that she shared in the cast’s group chat:
“Art should comfort the disturbed, and disturb the comfortable”
- Cesar A. Cruz
We love you and we will miss you in the most painful of ways. We are so lucky to have been able to love so hard for it to hurt so much to lose such an incredible soul.
Until we meet again,
